Today in class...
1. We played "Taboo" in a corner shop, a cafe, a supermarket and a restaurant. We used phrases like, "Could you get me _____, please?", "I'd like to order _____, please" and "Could you help me find _____, please?"
2. We looked at how to make polite requests (will > would, can > could) and our four special phrases, "Please", "Thank you", "Sorry" and "Excuse Me". We also looked at saying "Yes, please" and "No, thank you" when somebody offers us something. Then we practised these phrases with the worksheet and watched a funny video.
3. After that, we discussed some situations in restaurants in Hong Kong and compared them to the UK. I asked you, "Which place is 'more polite': Hong Kong or the UK?" and I tried to prove to you that they are equally polite, but in different ways.

4. Our quiz this week was about places in the UK, including Bath, Salisbury, Cornwall, Stonehenge, Dartmoor and London. I also showed you some different areas of London, for example Camden Town. I recommended Covent Garden and the South Bank as good tourist areas in London. See here for my restaurant recommendations.
5. Finally, we worked on our final projects - the dramas and the videos. Remember that we will be recording these next lesson (1 July), so they will need to be ready for then!
